Active Periodicals called me after two years to ask me about the 4 magazines I was getting (I've been only getting one...and I'm sure they knew that). After playing dumb about why I was only getting one magazine, the girl offered to give me a discount since my account had 20 more payments to go. Unfortunately for her, I anally check my bank and credit card statements online and could not remember when I last saw a charge for their service. She then became rather forceful about saying that the "system" had to send me 4 magazines, and that I needed to pick them rather than have them send them to me at random. I started to say, whatever, just have it pick (NEVER DO THAT), but then I just seem to remember being rather pissed off the last time I talked to them and was sure that I had asked them to stop sending magazines. The girl persisted in explaining that the only thing that she could do was to was to either offer me a discount or continue the service at the full price. I then asked her for the address where I could write to, or my lawyer could write to...and I was talking to the dial tone. I immediately called Merrick Bank and found that they she had put an authorization for $49.90 on my credit card. Merrick Bank said that I can't dispute it until it posts, but they did give me the telephone number. I called them back at 800-553-7633 and spoke to Teresa x286, who was very apologetic (she better be). SHE noted that my account was completed with my last payment on 9/27/2006, and said that she would check into my claim next week because it takes 3 business days for new accounts to trickle through the system. I will be calling Teresa BACK
