ACTIVE PERIODICALS complaint by Jim

I recently worked for a telemarketing company that did business with Active Periodicals as well as other companies. The tactic used for this particular company is to call and claim the consumer opted for an automatic renewal and now it is time to pay for it. If the consumer says that they did not want a renewal the caller says that the magazines have already been prepaid for and it is too late but they will *** any future renewals for them. While the tactic works more than I could believe if the customer hangs up or will not pay they keep calling until, as put by the company, the customer says one of the "magic" words. The magic words are attorney general, BBB, lawyer, FTC, etc. Even then they will not stop calling completely just give that particular customer's phone number a rest for a while and start calling again in a few weeks.

I quit working there because of both my conscience and the fact that I don't think they were paying me what I earned, of course I figured if a company was in business for the sole purpose of tricking people out of their money, wouldn't they do the same to their employees?

I wonder if I can help anyone?

Has any one heard back from Jim? I have just recently heard from Active Periodicals yesterday for the first time in 6 years saying I still owed them money. I know it is not true and would like to know what to do.

Provide any and all information you can about active periodicals including real phone numbers, names of people in the company, real addresses, other companies owned by them, websites, personal email addresses, etc.
